I can't figure out where the error was on question 25, page 117. I have a suspicion that it has to do with the distribution, but I can't figure out how.
GREAT QUESTION For #13, step 2... YOU WILL GET THIS WRONG ON THE TEST... look for a postulate or definition (based on the GIVEN) that is the REASON for step 2 (it is NOT the same as step 3)
117#5, is actually referring to HOW the current statement was made flowing from the previous statement... what was done?? 10 was added to both sides, yes? ADD POE, yes?
To get from line4 to line5 in #25, she divided by (a-b)... given that the GIVEN in line 1 is true, what is (a-b) always equal to? Can you divide by that number... EVER???
Sorry! I just read your explanation to Paul. I see the problem in the Distribution step.. Is it that b^2-a^2 was "undistributed" incorrectly? Because then if you distributed what they gave you it would give you (ab^2-ba^2)?
Could you go over #38 on the Chapter Review pg 132 in class tomorrow? I'm still kind of struggling on how to MAKE a Statement/Reason chart without any aid.. Thanks!

ReplyDeleteYou're right, Paul the problem is in the distribution step... go back and look at the GIVEN information... a=b, right?
ReplyDeleteWhat would P/GEMDAS do with the distribution step, based on the fact that a and b are equivalent.
lmk is this helps
For p 117 #13 proof step 2 seems to be the Same as step three, is it?
ReplyDeleteWould #1 on pg 116 follow the Transitive Property of Equality or the Transitive Property of Congruence?
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what reason to put for #5 Reason a. on page 117! Would it be Distributive Property?

ReplyDeleteANOTHER GREAT QUESTION on pg 116#1...
ReplyDeleteMEASURES (like degrees, inches, feet, cm) speak to equivalence...
GENERAL SHAPE AND SIZE speak to congruence...
remember your blog etiquette... and lmk if this helped...

ReplyDeleteFor pg 117 #5, I meant for Step 2. What would the property be when you multiply two sides by 2? Would it be multiplication POE?
ReplyDeleteYup, MULT POE FOR 117#5 step 2
ReplyDeleteI really can't find anything wrong with #25.. They did everything correctly, but it doesn't seem true that a=2a...
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if this is right, but it never showed anywhere that a=1 or b=1 for #25? Could that be the error?

ReplyDeleteOHHH! I understand now.
ReplyDeleteI always struggle on these writing questions.. And I just can't see the difference.. #5 pg 124???
